INDIAN/HINDU DEITIES AND
PRODUCT INFORMATION
GANESH
Ganesha is the manifestation of the principles of wisdom, innocence
and purity. He is the gatekeeper and the remover of obstacles,
representing self determination and commitment to moving forward
in one’s growth. If you are the keeper of your commitments and
shape your own environment then you will please Ganesha and he
will make you want to dance. Dancing originates in the body at
the seat of Ganesh - The sacrum. Ganesha is the lord of the base
or root chakra. His sphere of influence extends downward to the
sex organs and up to the mid abdomen and the principles he represents
are at the basis of your growth and unfolding. Ganesh is said
to be the son of Shiva as per the ancient legends.
KRISHNA
Krishna, as the incarnation of Vishnu,
represents the ethics of understanding and relationship. He is much loved by
those around him for his loving playfulness and good humour. Krishna represents
the quality of diplomacy. This mainly requires integrity, understanding and
clarity. Krishna becomes angry when we withhold from saying that which we really
need to say. His seat is in the centre of the throat area. If he is happy then
the neck, shoulders, wrists, ankles and lower jaws are healthy.
SHIVA or SIVA or
NATARAJ
Divinity manifests in creation under three different aspects; creation,
sustenance, and destruction or dissolution. In Vedic trinity, Brahma is the
aspect of God that creates, Vishnu that which sustains and Shiva is the name
given to the ‘destroyer, or recycler aspect’. All things are brought into being
through the combination and re-combination of other things. The physical part of
all living things eventually returns to the soil from which it sprang, to feed
once more the planets that again become food. It is a constant cycle of birth,
death and rebirth.
Shiva is the destroyer of anything that
gets in the way of the pilgrim soul. He is the key to growth and transformation.
Shiva becomes happy when you have a keen sense of priorities or “dharma”, clear
boundaries and when you understand your end-to-end path in life. When you have
achieved this you have the means to become fully passionate and will become a
vehicle of power and influence. Shiva sits in the navel centre where he presides
over the digestive system, and sustains the bodily processes. However he also
rules the 3rd eye or seat of transformation. When he feels compromised the
difficulties of various natures can afflict the digestion, which leads to the
deposition of toxins around the body.
“The world, with its immovable and
movable objects, is nothing but the cosmic dance of Shiva. This blissful cosmic
dance evokes awe and wonder, for it is beyond human comprehension”
Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
As Nataraj, or the “King of Dancers”, Shiva is seen dancing
within a ring of fire, representing energy. All creation is just energy, nothing
but energy, now manifesting as matter, then being reconverted to energy. The
dance of shiva can be seen as the dance of creation itself.
“Siva….sends
through inert matter pulsating waves of awakening sound, and lo! Matter also
dances, appearing as a glory round about him. Dancing, he sustains its manifold
phenomena. In the fullness of time, still dancing, he destroys all forms and
names by fire and gives new rest. This is poetry, but nonetheless, science”.
Coomaraswamy.
COPPER “MANTRA”
BRACELETS
The mantra depicted on these bracelets
is Om Namaha Shivaya” which is a praise to the Hindu deity Lord “Shiva”, the
destroyer of illusion and EGO. Shiva helps us to move forward in our life, as we
learn to let go of attachments and old modes of behaviour and thoughts which
bind us to the “illusion” of the 3D world. See above for more in depth
explanation of Shiva. The copper is well known to assist in relieving the
symptoms of arthritis and RSI and also it will help to raise your overall
energy. Copper works much like a crystal (all metals have various energy
vibrations helpful to humans), and you can see this when you think that copper
is a great conductor of electricity and we, as magnetic beings, are also
“electrical!”
PRAYER BEADS or ‘MALAS’
Traditional Hindu/Buddhist prayer beads
have 108 beads, the sacred Hindu number depicting the 108 forms or ways to
describe GOD/divinity. As they recite their mantras or “Kriyas”, they would
count off each bead with their thumb until they had completed all 108. These
mala beads come in various types, including Sandalwood, Rosewood, and
“Rudraksha” which are the traditional dried berries. The tassel marks the
beginning and end of a ‘round’ but it also represents our “heart”. These beads
can be used in the traditional Hindu way or just worn around the neck as usual.
LINGHAM
The Lingham
is the symbol of creation and specifically, Shiva’s creation. It is ellipsoid in
shape and is known as the “cosmic egg” as per Vedic scriptures, and it is from
this Lingham that the universe is said to have emerged. It is interesting that
the orbits of planets and other heavenly bodies are elliptical and so are the
sub-atomic particles within the nucleus of the atom. Therefore, even from a
scientific point of view, it is correct to say that creation comes into
existence through a lingham, indeed the totality of the universe is in
the shape of a lingham. The ceremony of bathing the Lingham, is a symbolic
nurturing of the universe and of planet earth. Like all symbolic acts, when
performed with awareness, it can actually DO what it represents.
The Lingham itself is crystalline in
nature, and is found in the sacred Ganges river in India. “Its shape is like
a Nirakaar. “LI” stands for liyathe, meaning that in which all names and forms
merge; and “GAM” stands for Gamyathe meaning that towards which all forms
proceed. It is the fittest symbol of the omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent
lord. Everything starts from it and everything is subsumed in it.
“Quoted from Sri Sathya Sai Baba”.
